Jos de Mul

Professor Jos de Mul (born Terneuzen, 1956) studied philosophy, art history and law at the universities of Utrecht and Amsterdam. From 1983-1988 he has been assistant professor Philosophy of Education at the Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. In 1988 he was appointed associate professor philosophical anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

 

Since 1993 he is full professor Philosophy of Man and Culture at the same faculty, and scientific director of the Research Institute Philosophy of Information and Communication Technology. Recently, he was visiting professor at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA) and Fudan University (Shanghai, China).

 

Among his book publications are: Romantic Desire in (Post)Modern Art and Philosophy (Albany, N.Y.: State University of New York Press, 1999) , The Tragedy of Finitude. Dilthey’s Hermeneutics of Life (New Haven: Yale University Press, 2004), Cyberspace Odyssey (Guangxi Normal University Press, 2006; Istanbul: Kitap Yayinevi, 2008). His works have been translated in many languages.
