Phil Bannister works for Becta, the UK government’s lead agency supporting the use of technology within the schools and further education & skills sectors. Becta is responsible for leading the national strategy for technology in education, “Harnessing Technology: Next Generation Learning 2008-2014”, which aims to build an e-confident education system.

 

As Head of Policy Advice, Phil is responsible for helping Becta shape and influence the development of central government policy on education so that it takes full advantage of the benefits that technology can offer. Prior to Becta, Phil was a senior research officer in the Department for Education and Skills, managing research and policy evaluation projects on technology in schools as well as a researcher at Sheffield Hallam University, conducting research on aspects of teaching and learning in higher education.
